Important Dates/Times Judging will begin promptly at 9:30 AM on March 27, 2010. Registration will start at 9am - please be on time. Preliminary judging may be done depending on the number of entries. Late entries and walk-ins will be disqualified if the style was judged in a preliminary round. Entry deadline is 6 PM on Saturday March 20, 2010 Lodging Arrangements for Lodging have been made with Hampton Inn-GA Tech, located just 3/4 mile from 5 Seasons Westside. There are a limited number of rooms available at a special rate, but the reservation must be done through the Hampton web site before March 5, 2010. Sanctioning This Event will be sanctioned by the AHA and judged using the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. Detailed style descriptions may be found on the BJCP webpage. Entries will be accepted in all categories this year with a separate Best of Show for Cider/Mead. Entrants may enter as many beers as they like but are restricted to one entry per sub-category. Entrants are responsible for placing their beer in the proper category. No entry will be reclassified. Some categories may be combined at the organizer's discretion. Entries in combined categories will be judged according to the style originally indicated by the brewer on the entry form. We are proud to be a part of the Mid-South Homebrewer of the Year and Club of the Year. This will be the first competition of the 2010 series. |

Volunteers
Those wishing to judge should contact Daniel Howell, stewards should contact Dave Adelman. All other inquiries should be directed to the organizer, Mike Castagno. Offers of Judging or Stewarding can also be indicated on the Online entry registration site. Judges for the Peach State Brew-Off cannot judge in any category they have entered. BJCP Points will be awarded to judges and steward through the BJCP Organization according to thier guidelines. Expected number of entries is 300+ Lunch will be provided for judges and stewards. All volunteers will be given a logo pint glass to commemorate their participation in the event.

Eligibility
The Peach State Brew Off is open to all homebrewers regardless of their location. Beers brewed by two or more individuals must list the names of all involved on the entry form. No commercially brewed entries will be accepted. Entry fee is $7 per entry. Each entry must consist of two (2) unlabeled 12 oz brown glass bottles with bottle forms attached to each bottle using a rubber band. Bottles must not have raised letters or any kind of identifying markings. All other bottles including plastic and swing-top bottles will be disqualified. Bottles with glued-on or taped-on labels will be disqualified. Printed caps are acceptable, but any printing must be completely marked out. Entry fees for disqualified entries will not be returned -- please follow the instructions. Checks should be made out to The Covert Hops Society. We will accept entries from Monday March 1, 2010, to March 20, 2010. No entries will be accepted after March 20th. It will be necessary to conduct a preliminary judging session, therefore we will be unable to accept any walk-in entries the day of the competition. There will be no exceptions for late or unpaid entries. Late entries will not be returned, though the checks will. All entries must be registered through the online registration site. Awards Medals will be presented to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category. Remember, some categories may be combined if an insufficient number of entries are received in that category. |

The top three Best of Show beers will receive handcrafted ceramic beer mugs and a gift card to Hop City Craft Beet & Wine in the amount of $100, $50 & $25 (respectively) as a sign of their achievement. Plaques will be presented to the top 3 winners of Best Of Show Cider/Mead. One lucky brewer will be chosen to replicate their recipe with the Award winning brewer Crawford Moran at 5 Seasons Westside. This beer will be chosen during the Best of Show round by a panel of expert judges. This beer will not necessarily be the BOS winner, but the best style to be brewed according to the brewhouse guidelines. The Ale Grail presentation will include a certificate for a 10-Person Beer Dinner at Max Lagers. The Ale Grail is presented to the Georgia Homebrew Club with the highest point total. In the case of a points tie, the Ale Grail will be presented to the club with the most first place entries. Medals will be awarded during the Best of Show session, in conjunction with the Raffle. The Awards Ceremony and the Raffle are open to the public. Results We will make every effort to post the results at the Covert Hops webpage within 48 hours of the event. Score Sheets will be available for download shortly after that. |
